Open Content Alliance and openlibrary.org
Via Charles Bailey, updated reports about the Open Content Alliance and openlibrary.org. The online document Libraries Going Open provides new information on OCA and Open Library as well as a sampling of what is in store by way of technology, partnerships and so forth. A demo site offering a taste of the technology is available at: http://demo.openlibrary.org/ and certainly worth looking at if you haven’t already done so. It’s quite interesting and I think very exciting to begin to see details, road maps and stretch goals of what might be possible through the efforts of the Open Content Alliance and its participating libraries.
Ross Singer also has a write-up regarding his experience at the recent OCA annual stakeholder’s meeting with some interesting editorial regarding the strategies around new ISBN assignment for older works pre-dating the ISBN convention.
